When a few disabled employees started to
build PC's as a hobby back in 1991, no one could have
predicted that the effort would grow to become the
world's largest computer manufacturing operation of its kind.

The growing pains were significant. Like other manufacturers in the early 90's, Axon struggled with market shortages of components and thought the name of the game was to build PC's using whatever parts could be obtained  cheapest and quickest.

By 1995, the computer industry had matured to the point where information technology experts were demanding more for their IT dollar.

As part of a concerted effort to reach new levels of quality, Axon invited Intel engineers to audit the manufacturing plant. Intel helped Axon to rethink every step of the manufacturing process. As a result, Axon completely redesigned the product and processes. Axon standardized on all Intel processors, Intel motherboards, and on high quality, Intel-compatible, name brand components. Axon's Board of Directors were extremely supportive of the re-engineering plan and of the Intel standardization.

Axon customers noticed the difference right away. Axon products became easier to support than national brands since all components are manufactured by industry leaders and are readily available and totally nonproprietary. As a result of the partnership with Intel, customer satisfaction has skyrocketed, in-field failures have plummeted, and technical support is as good as any on the market.

Intel engineers regularly visit Axon and have acted both as Axon's mentors and partners. "Axon has one of the best organized manufacturing plants that I have ever visited", said Intel's Mike Nwankwo, who visited Axon recently along with System Engineers Derek Pickett and Manager Dan Rivera. "Intel is proud of its role in helping Axon build high caliber computers and servers and we are very supportive of their mission to provide the disabled community with quality jobs".

Today, IT professionals have come to rely on the quality and durability of Axon Computers and Servers, even in "life and death", mission-critical applications such as emergency management and fire-rescue.

Axon can be most proud of the message sent with every PC that disabled workers can build a world class computer that's as high quality as any being built anywhere. Intel has played a key role in helping Axon raise the bar.
